MALBUN - 10 Nights
Wonderful hiking in the Liechtenstein Alps !
THE VACATION is based in Malbun in the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein. Malbun is a delightful village, high in the mountains above the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. The highest village in this tiny country, Malbun lies at 5,250 feet, in a cirque or bowl shaped valley surrounded on three sides by dramatic mountains. All around are rolling pastures with paths which climb up the rugged slopes. These culminate in the peaks of Gorfion and Augstenburg, both around 7,500 feet. The village has a few shops where you can buy virtually everything you need, including appetising fillings for your box lunch.
YOUR HOTEL Your 10 nights in Malbun are spent at lovely family run Gorfion Hotel, which now incorporates the former Hotel Malbunerhof. Situated in the village it is a modern hotel in Swiss Chalet style and offers every comfort, with super service. It is tastefully furnished and has a large open-plan lounge, large bar and a light and airy dining room. Food is excellent and beautifully presented in the modern Swiss manner. Breakfast is buffet style with a wide choice. Bedrooms are quite large and of course have en-suite bathrooms. There is an indoor swimming pool, sauna and fitness room. Altogether a superb hotel !
THE HIKING PROGRAMME. You will hike in fabulous scenic surroundings. Cable cars, chair lifts, post-bus services and mountain railways open up a great variety of terrain and enable you to reach higher altitudes without the strain and pain of climbing up unaided ! The rolling Alpine pastures give way to towering peaks with dramatic views and hikes at all grades. Hikes will generally be at grades 2 & 3 but will be tailored to the abilities of the party. With two leaders there is the option of some more challenging hikes for those who prefer.
NON-HIKING EXCURSIONS. From Malbun you can take an optional excursion to Bregenz and Lake Constantine, in Germany, with a visit to the mediaeval island town of Lindau. Vaduz, the capital is a short drive away. You can use your Post-Bus pass in for excursions within Liechtenstein to visit other castles and villages, on your free days.

PRICE : £895.00. Single room supplement £100.00. One or
two Footloose Leaders.
FLIGHTS
Footloose Adventure Travel holds ATOL No. T7121 and will be delighted
to arrange your flights for you. By ensuring that you are booking direct
with an ATOL holder you can rest assured that your flights are financially
protected. Note this applies only to flights ex the U.K.
TRAVEL
Travel from Zurich and within Liechtenstein will be by de-luxe coach
or by passenger vans, train, mountain railway, post-bus, cable car or
chair lift, as appropriate.
THE HIKING GRADES
The hiking programme is designed at Footloose Grades2 & 3. With
two Leaders we can offer a choice of two hikes on each of the 7 or 8
walking days. The distances and ascents / descents may be modified to
suit the needs and abilities of the group members but will generally
be :-
Grade 2 : Up to 3,000 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths.
Terrain may be steeply inclined and rough underfoot, with loose rock
at times. Snow may be encountered at higher levels. Distances 10-15
miles.
Grade 3 : Up to 1,500 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths.
Terrain may be steeply inclined at times and rough underfoot, with possibly
loose rock. Distances usually 5 - 8 miles.
THE PRICE INCLUDES
* 10 nights accommodation in twin / double rooms, with private bathroom
& toilet, in good quality 3 star hotels.
* 10 evening meals with buffet breakfast each morning.
* All transport costs necessary to fulfil the hiking programme.
* Liechtenstein Bus Pass.
* Airport transfers from Zurich Airport to and between hotels and return,
by deluxe coach or comfortable passenger vans, or by train as appropriate.
* Services of one or two Footloose Leaders
* All local service charges and taxes.
THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE
Flights to Zurich ; Lunches ; insurance (medical and accident &
emergency cover, including repatriation expenses to the USA. is considered
essential) ; optional extra sightseeing excursions (details will be
advised by theFootlose Leaders) ; single room supplements ; admissions
to castles, museums etc. ; local transportation costs not part of the
hiking programme not covered by the passes ; items of a personal nature,
e.g. drinks, telephone calls etc.
ZURICH EXTENSION. At the end of the holiday you will have the option of extending your stay in Zurich for as many days as you wish. If you prefer to spend some time in Zurich, please advise the number of nights and the class of hotel you prefer - we will do the rest
