The Dolomites - Selva Val Gardena – 7 or 14 Nights
The attractive village of SELVA is located in the beautiful Gardena
Valley in Italy’s fabulous Dolomites! The valley is surrounded
on all sides by wonderful mountain ranges like the Sella, Sassolungo,
Rosengarten, Cir, Geisler and Schlern. The craggy, jagged peaks of the
Dolomites make them amongst the most beautiful and spectacular mountains
in the world!
Selva is a great base for hikes in all these areas with very convenient
public transport, including a large number of cable cars and chair lifts,
which give access to superb high-level hikes. The village has all the
facilities you will need to complete the enjoyment of your holiday.
THE HOTEL
You will stay at the excellent 3 star Hotel Alpino Plan, situated on
the edge of the village, at the foot of the dramatic Sella Pass. We
have been using the Alpino Plan for over 15 years and the Demetz family
offer a warm welcome, very comfortable, en-suite bedrooms and mouth
watering 4-course dinners, as well as buffet breakfasts. Bedrooms have
TV, telephone and hairdryers and the hotel also offers a spacious lounge,
bar-lounge and lift.
THE HIKING PROGRAMME
The programme is designed to offer superb hiking at Grades 2 and 3,
and will generally be as shown in the section on Walking /Hiking Grades.

actual hikes are always tailored to suit each individual group. With
two experienced Footloose Leaders, we offer a choice of two hikes on
each of the 10 hiking days, thus accommodating most degrees of ability.
The cables and lifts will carry you to rolling alpine meadow areas,
like the lovely Alpi di Siusi, for easier mountain walking. These in
turn lead to higher, more strenuous options, for those who prefer something
more demanding.
On Day 1 you will be picked up at the Italian arrival airport and transferred by private coach direct to the hotel in Selva. On Day 8 (one week holidays)you will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the Italian departure airport for your flight home. On Day 15 (two week holidays)you will be picked up at the hotel in Selva and transferred to the Itailan departiure airport for you flight home.
The final programme for the intervening days, giving full details of transfers, the hiking programme, sightseeing excursions and packing list etc. will be sent out nearer to the time of the holiday.
NON-HIKING EXCURSIONS
During the holiday there will be free days, when you can relax and do
your own thing, or join one or more of our optional extra sightseeing
excursions. Possibilities include a full day visit to beautiful Lake
Garda, visiting Malcesine and Riva del Garda ; enjoy a day in Bolzano
and Merano : another takes you to magnificent, mediaeval Verona, city
of “Romeo & Juliet” and the famous Roman Arena. You can
attend, vacancies permitting, a performance of Aida, La Gioconda, Nabucco,
La Boheme or Turandot, in the outdoor Arena, a very memorable experience
!
FLIGHTS
Footloose Europe does not arrange flights to Italy. We can however assist
you by putting you in touch with suitable Travel Agents.
TRAVEL IN ITALY
Travel within Italy will be by deluxe coach from Verona Airport to your
hotel and return. Local transport will be by private coach, local service
bus, cable car or chair lift as appropriate.
