CHAMONIX – FRENCH ALPS - 14 Nights
This specially arranged holiday is based in the famous mountain resort
of Chamonix, nestling in the heart of the French Alps.
CHAMONIX is located in the heart of the French Alps and is a world renowned
mountain resort, beloved of hikers, climbers and skiers alike. It nestles
at the foot of Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak and is a World
Heritage Site. It is a great base for hikes with very convenient public
transport, including a large number of cable cars and chair lifts, which
give access to superb high-level hikes. The village has all the facilities
you will need to complete the enjoyment of your holiday.
YOUR HOTEL
In Chamonix you stay for 14 nights at the Hotel Richemond, a superior
2 star hotel conveniently located in the city centre. It has 53 bedrooms,
all with en suite bathrooms, comfortable lounges, restaurant, a lift,
games room, sun terrace and garden.
THE HIKING PROGRAMME
The programme is designed to offer superb hiking, mainly at Grades 2
and 3, with possibly some Grade 1 extensions should anybody prefer them,
as described overleaf. The actual hikes are always tailored to suit
each individual group. With one experienced Footloose Leader as well
as a local hiking guide in each resort, we offer a choice of two hikes
on each of the hiking days, thus accommodating most degrees of ability.
In Chamonix the cables and lifts will carry you to rolling alpine meadow
areas, for easier mountain hiking. These in turn lead to higher, more
strenuous options, for those who prefer something more demanding.
NON-HIKING EXCURSIONS
During the holiday there will the option of some free days, when you
can relax and do your own thing. The Footloose leader will be able to
suggest possible group or private sightseeing excursions, should you
wish.
TRAVEL
Within France will be by deluxe coach or passenger van from/to Geneva
Airport to and between your hotels. Local transport will be by private
coach, local service bus, cable car or chair lift as appropriate.
THE HIKING PROGRAMME
The hiking programme is designed at Footloose Grades 2 & 3. With
one Footloose Leader and a local Hiking Guide we can offer a choice
of two hikes on each of the hiking days. The distances and ascents /
descents may be modified to suit the needs and abilities of the group
members but will generally be :-
Grade 2 : Up to 3,000 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths.
Terrain may be steeply inclined and rough underfoot, with loose rock
at times. Snow may be encountered at higher levels. Distances 10-15
miles.
Grade 3 : Up to 1,500 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths.
Terrain may be steeply inclined at times and rough underfoot, with possibly
some loose rock. Distances 5 - 8 miles.
NOTE : There is no obligation for anyone to hike every day - you make
a day off whenever you wish!
FLIGHTS: Footloose Europe does not arrange flights to France. We can
however assist you by referring you to suitable licensed Travel Agents,
who will be pleased to advise you on flights to Geneva and also insurance.

THE PRICE INCLUDES
* 14 nights accommodation in twin or double rooms, all with private
bathroom & toilet, in good quality French 2 star plus hotels.

* Airport transfers from Geneva Airport to and from the hotel by deluxe
coach / passenger van.

Flights to Geneva ; Lunches ; insurance (strongly recommended) ; optional
