The Brenta Dolomites – 7 or 14 Nights
The popular resort of MADONNA di CAMPIGLIO lies between the majestic
Brenta Dolomites and the Presenalla and Adamello Alps, to the west of
the Brenner Pass Motorway. This gives a variety of scenery and the choice
of walking amongst the granite slopes of the alps and the dolomitic
limestone of the Brenta.
There are a number of cable cars and chair lifts which lift you to higher
alpine pastures and you can walk amongst beautiful lakes and craggy
mountains. A full programme of walks is possible with hardly any travelling
from the lovely Rendena Valley. There are lots of bars, restaurants,
shops and banks around the two main squares, as well as a delightful
park.
HOTEL
You will stay in Madonna for 7 or 14 nights as appropriate, at the very
comfortable and conveniently situated 3 star Hotel Diana. This is within
easy walking distance of the cable cars and the village squares. It
has a comfortable lounge, cosy bar and an attractive restaurant. Food
is very good and all the bedrooms have private bathrooms. The Bonazza
family have that happy knack of making their guests feel relaxed and
at ease.
THE HIKING PROGRAMME
The programme is designed to offer superb hiking at Grades 2 and 3,
as described overleaf but the actual hikes are always tailored to suit
each individual group. With two experienced Footloose Leaders, we offer
a choice of two hikes on each of the 9 hiking days, thus accommodating
most degrees of ability. The cables and lifts will carry you to rolling
alpine meadow areas, for easier mountain walking. These in turn lead
to higher, more strenuous options, for those who prefer something more
demanding. The hiking programme is designed at Footloose Grades 2 &
3. With two Leaders we can offer a choice of two hikes on each of the
9 hiking days. The distances and ascents / descents may be modified
to suit the needs and abilities of the group members but will generally
be :-
Grade 2 : Up to 3,000 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths.
Terrain may be steeply inclined and rough underfoot, with loose rock
at times. Snow may be encountered at higher levels. Distances 10-15
miles. Grade 3 : Up to 1,500 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked
paths. Terrain may be steeply inclined at times and rough underfoot,
with possibly some loose rock. Distances 5 - 8 miles. Note : On some
Grade 2 hikes, more strenuous extensions may be offered but only at
the request of the members of the party.
On Day 1 you will be picked up at the Italian arrival airport and transferred
by private coach direct to the hotel in Selva. On Day 8 you will be
picked up at the hotel and transferred either to the Italian departure
airport or to the hotel in Madonna di Campiglio. On Day 15 you will
be picked up at the hotel in Madonna and transferred to the Italian
departure airport for you flight home.
The final programme for the intervening days, giving full details of transfers, the hiking programme, sightseeing excursions and packing list etc. will be sent out nearer to the time of the holiday.
NON-HIKING EXCURSIONS
During the holiday there will be free days, when you can relax and do
your own thing, or join one or more of our optional extra sightseeing
excursions. Possibilities include a full day visit to beautiful Lake
Garda, visiting Malcesine and Riva del Garda ; a visit to the Provincial
Capital, Trento ; another tour takes you to magnificent, mediaeval Verona,
city of “Romeo & Juliet” and the famous Roman Arena. You
can attend, vacancies permitting, a performance of Aida, La Gioconda,
Nabucco, La Boheme or Turandot in the outdoor Arena, a very memorable
experience!

THE PRICE INCLUDES
* 7 or 14 nights accommodation in twin or double rooms, all with private
bathroom & toilet, in good quality 3 star hotels.
* 7or 14 x 4-course evening meals with buffet breakfast each morning.
* One or two-week Lift Pass giving free transport on cable cars and
lifts within the Val Rendana System.
* Any other transport costs necessary to fulfil the hiking programme.
* Airport transfers from Verona Airport or other agreed to the hotel
and return by deluxe coach or comfortable mini-bus/passenger van. *

Footloose Europe does not arrange flights to Italy. We can however assist
you by putting you in touch with suitable Travel Agents.
TRAVEL
Within Italy will be by deluxe coach from Verona Airport or other agreed
airport to your hotel and return. Local transport will be by private
coach, local service bus, cable car or chair lift as appropriate.
