Inn to Inn Walking Tour - 7 Nights
The Kingdom of the Gold Horn
According to a legend a white chamois (Gold Horn) lived high up in the
mountain in a magical garden. The Gold Horn guarded a treasure that
greedy men wanted to get their hands on. One day a hunter set out to
kill the Gold Horn and to claim the treasure. The greedy hunter tracked
down the Chamois with the golden horn and wounded him with the gun.
The Chamois was so furious that a human wanted to kill him and steal
his treasure that he plugged his way through the mountains with his
golden horn and was never seen again. This is how the Trenta valley
was made. The treasure of the Gold horn still remains undiscovered somewhere
in the Julian Alps. People still today come to the Julian Alps to seek
the treasure but discover a different treasure, a treasure of natural
beauty.
Suitable for all walking abilities, due to relatively easy terrain and having your luggage transferred for you
Imposing, yet accessible peaks with their beauty, invite you to experience the unusual calming and inspiring strength of the Julian Alps . They are the most extensive alpine chain in Slovenia . Almost the entire Slovene part of this mountain range is included in Triglav National Park (84,805 hectares) which encompasses and protects a unique natural and cultural heritage. The highest peak Mount Triglav is almost at the geometrical center of the park, from where the magnificent alpine valleys of Planica, Vrata, Kot, and Krma spread in the shape of a fan to the north, and Koritnica and Trenta to the south.
